Dr. Gary Schneiderman, 2008 Livingston mayor, will be the guest speaker for the Livingston League of Women Voters, Wednesday evening, January 16, 8 PM, at the Livingston Community Center, lower level, 204 Hillside Avenue.  Everyone is welcome to this free informative discussion.  Dr. Schneiderman will discuss the construction of the new Township Hall and Police Station, as well as the revaluation of the residential property in Livingston. 

There will be an oppurtunity for questions and individual discussion, following refreshments.

Meeting, Wednesday evening, May 16, 7 Pm at the home of Gloria
Friedman, 23 Brandywyne Drive, Florham Park.  Anyone who is
interested in the League of Women Voters is welcome.  Please call

Your "ticket" will be salad or dessert to share.

    The Livingston League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women are co-sponsoring Candidates Night for the State Assemly, District 27, October 19, 8 pm at the Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, lower level.  The public is welcome and encouraged to bring questions for the candidates.
    The four candidates for State Assembly are as follows: Assemblyman John McKeon of Wst orange, Assemblyman Mims Hackett of Orange, Charles Rosen of Roseland and Michael Rizzo of Fairfield.  Assemblymen McKeon and Hackett are Democratic, Mrs. Rosen and Mr. Rizzo are Republican.  There are two open seats.
    The audience can ask questions, followed by refreshments donated from the Ritz Diner.  TV 34 will record the event.

                       7pm, Livingston High School

Oct. 24, there will be a Freeholders Candidates Night at 7 pm, Livingsotn High School.  All the freeholders form Essex County have been invited.  Patricia Sebold, a Livngston residnet, and running again as Freeholder-at-large, will be attending.
    This forum is sponsored by the Essex Council of Leagues and the North Essex Chamber of Commerce.

Oversee the addition and renovation of library, the construction of the township hall and police headquarters, We welcome the public to attend.  They are encouraged to ask questions and discuss concerns. Refreshment will be serviced at the conclusion.

       The Livingston League of Women Voter plans to hold a Holiday Buffet Party featuring Chinese food and homemade desserts, Wednesday, December 14, at the home of Bobbie Weisenfeld, 3 Sylvan Court, Christopher (Kit) Cone, former publisher of the West Essex Tribune and a missionary to Liberia, will speak about his experiences and recent trends in Africa.  The party will begin at 7:00 P. M. <>

Wednesday, January 18        Meet the Mayor 
                       Senior/Community Center

    The Livingston League of Women Voters will hold a public meeting on January 18, 8 pm at the Senior/ Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, lower level.  Mayor Renee Gree will speak about her own plans she hopes to implement in 2006.  They are more afordable housing and creating a commuter parking area and movie theater on South Livingston Avenue where the Department of Public Works is presently located.  Mayor Green was the Township Clerk for 25 years, then became Township Councilwoman, Deputy Mayor, and now Mayor.
    Accompanying her will be Peter Klein, Planning Board Chairman, and active on the Planning Board since 1996.  He is a retired lawyer from Sea-Land Service.  he will expalain how Livingston must comply with mandates form the state regarding affordable housing by 2014.     
    This meeting will have TV-34 coverage.

Topic:  The Future of Livingston and Affordable Housing Issues

        The Livingston League of Women Voters has invited Dr. Stanley Weiss, an epidemiologist and medical researcher at UMDNJ, to speak about his research on the incidence of cancer in Essex County.  The meeting will be February 15, 8 p.m., Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston.  His colleagues, co-coordinators of Essex County Cancer Coalition, Ms. Azadeh Tasslimi and Ms. Punam Parikh, will speak about prevention and outreach programs.  Materials of fact sheets will be available. 

        Refreshments and a chance to talk individually with the speakers will conclude the evening.

Wednesday, April 5              Board of Education Candidates Night

       The LWV Livingston will hold a Board of Educations Candidates Night, Wednesday evening, April 5, 8:00 P.M. to 10 P.M., at the Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue.  The entrance to the meeting is on the lower level, off the parking lot. This program is free and open to the public, as are all League functions.  All reasident voters are encouraged to attend, so that they can make an informed decision on Election Day for the Board of Education, April 18.

       There are two openings for the Board of Educations of Livingston.  The five candidates are the two incumbents Bonnie Granatir and Doree Kesselbrenner, as well as newcomers Justin Alpert, Charles Granata and John Norton.

       The moderator is Dawn Clarke, member of the Union County League of Women Voters.  The League alsways slects a moderator from another community to preserve fairness.  Biographical infomation packet on each candidate will be avaliable that evening.

       Each candidate will present opening and closing statements, as well as responding to 2 questions from the Livingston League, which they prepared in advance.  The audience is encouraged to ask their own questions of the candidates.

       Refreshments will be served at the conclustion of the evening, and an opportunity to talk with candidates individually and informally.
